Jackie's Guide to Summer Fabrics

Linen

What is it?

Linen is made from fibers of the flax plant, you know, the same one that produces seeds that you blend into your morning smoothie?

Where do I wear it?

Linen is perfect for hot days on the town or an afternoon at the beach. Linen pants are incredibly on trend this season, so don't hesitate to grab yourself a pair to stay cool.

Why should I wear it?

There are a hundred reasons to rock linen this summer, but above all else, this fabric is incredibly breathable. It will have you looking your best, while keeping you cool all summer long.

Cotton

What is it?

Cotton is a fluffy and soft fiber that is able to be spun into thread or yarn. It is then woven into the soft, breathable fabric that we have all come to know and love.

Where do I wear it?

Cotton is great no matter the weather. It won't slow you down on a cold winter day or a humid summer afternoon, making it the perfect addition to your warm weather wardrobe essentials.

Why should I wear it?

This fabric is very light and will keep you cool as the weather warms up. It's naturally absorbant and will wick away sweat that comes with long days in the sun.

Chambray

What is it?

While it looks similar to denim, its properties are very different. It is a cotton based fabric, just like denim, however, it is woven into a simpler pattern than its sister fabric, making it lighter and more breathable.

Where do I wear it?

Chambray is the perfect summer look and one of our favorite summer trends! It's great for any occasion and comes in hundreds of styles. From dresses to blouses and joggers to jumpsuits, chambray is a look you will come to love if you haven't already fallen in love with it's silky texture and elegant feel.

Why should I wear it?

Chambray has a high thread count, making it very light to the touch and incredibly breathable. It does have the tendency to wrinkle, so keep a bottle of Mario Badescu facial spray in your purse and use it to unwrinkle your garment by giving it a spray and a tug. Just watch the wrinkles disappear! (This is also a fun party trick. Give it a try with your lady friends. You'll be sure to impress!)

Rayon

What is it?

Rayon is the magic fiber. It can mimic wool, silk, cotton or linen. It is made from wood pulp and dissolved into a weavable filament. Crazy, right?

Where do I wear it?

If you find yourself in a desert climate with very dry heat, rayon is for you! Unlike cotton, rayon is not a natural fiber, so it doesn't do a great job keeping moisture at bay. If you live in humid climates, opt for cotton for some fun in the sun.

Why should I wear it?

Rayon tends to be a flattering fit! It is a very fine, thin fabric that hangs beautifully and hugs your figure, while keeping you cool!

Blended Fabrics

What is it?

When you think about blended fabrics, think about your favorite athleisure look. These fabrics are great at wicking away moisture and keeping you feeling fresh and fabulous.

Where do I wear it?

Blended fabrics will take you so many places other than the gym. Pair your favorite printed leggings with a denim jacket and sneakers that don't quit. This is a look that will have you feeling comfortable and confident!

Why should I wear it?

It's breathable, it's durable, but more than anything it doesn't wrinkle! It is a perfect look for the jet-setting Jackie lady! Opt for an athleisure look to stay crisp, clean and ready for anything!
